Been a while....

It has been a while since I last posted nail art. I have been so busy with college lately and all my coursework, which their is way too much of, although, yes, I do enjoy college, the work is just piling up.

I recently did a karate exam, taken 6 months to prepare for, which is probably the quickest I have ever taken a grading. I really enjoy them, but I scare myself silly before hand, if I do something even slightly wrong, I always think "I could have done more" etc. All the usual stuff people think, I had prepared so much, my exam was November 10th 2012, and I still come home practising my stuff, only because I refuse to get anything wrong. Yes, I did pass, with flying colours :-). My next exam should be in April, but I put way too much pressure on myself taking it in 6 months. I will be waiting atleast a year before the next one.

I love karate, and my instructor is such an inspiration to me, both her, her partner and her family are an inspiration. I look up to her. Then again, I would say that! :-) I have been doing karate since August 2005, I took my first lesson 3rd August 2005. I used to do it for 2 hours a week. But then going to high school and starting my exams in Year 9, I needed all the time I could to revise for my exams, so I only went to one hour a week, on a Wednesday.

Over the summer I also did some volunteering, "Fun Squads", I really really enjoyed it. So, I bought some face paints, 10. I have done a few parties, and bazaars. I love doing it :-) I recently got myself another job, a catering company. Which I also enjoy doing. The interview for that job was not very scary. I had to do a bit of maths, adding a few food prices etc etc. It was quite easy, well it should have been considering I was only adding, and the fact that I got a 'B' in Maths again showed it was not too difficult ;-)

So, as you can tell, doing my coursework, revising for my recent exam, getting a second job, and doing parties etc, I have been so busy. I will upload all of my images that I took of my nails since September :-)

Enjoy :-) xoxo

Angry Bird Step-By-Step Nails!!
Paint a coat of clear base colour before starting. Then paint a red circle shape and add 2 feather at the top of the head. You can do this by using a striper, using the edge of the paint brush or using a cocktail stick.

Add 2 black dots for the eyes and a white semi circle for the belly button

Add 2 white dots in the eyes, and 2 black lines for the eye brows.

Add a small dot in the middle of the white and a yellow triangle for the beak. For the other nails use a white paint and tip the nails, then using a red striper pen brush across the end of the white on the nail bed.
For these nails I used;
Moody Red - L.A. Colors
Natural Collection nail tip whitener
Yellow, Red and Black pen stripers.

Leopard print
I tried the leopard print that everyone seems to have on their nails at the moment... As well as the Union Jack - because it's the Diamond Jubilee! I'm not sure if I love the leopard print. But I think with practise I could grow to love it! :) It's not difficult to do at all.... Just takes patience :D

How to marble nails! <3
For a few weeks I have looked at marbling on nails. I always thought they were too messy and hard to do. In fact they are incredibly easy and I love doing them. Yes they are a little messy but as long as you have nail polish remover and cotton buds to hand you'll be fine :) This is the first time I attempted doing marble nails and I think they work really well :)
Materials:
Nail polish, nail polish remover, cotton wool or remover pads, needle or something sharp, some water and a container to put it in

To begin with have a small amount of water - enough to put your finger nail in (at an angle). Also have all the lids off the paint colours that you want to use - this makes it easier and speeds up the process for putting the colours in the water. The water is best at room temperature because if it's too cold it tends to dry too quickly, and it it warm - not really sure, just doesn't work aswell :)
In the water I have put red nail paint in, then orange, then pink.
Using a cocktail stink swirl all the colours together to the pattern you want. You can use anything with a point e.g. needle or pencil also work really well :)
You can paint a base coat to that if any colour doesn't go onto the nail it will look like the base coat was there in the water. Dip your finger in at a slight angle and bring your finger forward to collect the paint. While your finger is still in the water use a cotton bud to collect any excess paint in the water, being careful not to rub your nail(because it can be dis-guarded after and no cleaning).
The thumb nail I have just painted a clear base coat because I wanted to use the colours and have a natural colour underneath :) As you can see on the pointer finger the paint is up the nail. After doing it I realised that it is probably a lot more sensible to to put tape around you nails... (shown below). To get as little paint on your skin as possible.
This is with the tape on the nails. It prevents too much nail paint going on the skin.
5 nails using different nail paints and patterns. <3

Obviously, if you haven't used tape you can use a cotton ball to take the large amount of paint off. Like I did on the pointer finger :$. Then if there is still paint on your nails around your nail bed or on your cuticle you can use a cotton bud or a paint brush to remove the paint. Before you put anything on your nail it also usually helps if you put hand cream on, any paint on your skin comes off really easily.
Good Luck :)
